Hello! Happy Saturday! Hope everyone’s had a wonderful week and you have some great, relaxing weekend plans. Today I’m off to my father’s house for a bbq to rest, relax and spend some quality family time. I’m making some sweets today that I cannot wait to share with you!!
Last weekend I forget to mention that we FINALLY had Molly’s baptism!! It only took 8 months (yikes!) There were more than a few bumps in the road. Our church only does baptisms one Sunday a month so it took a bit due to an issue with my sister-in-law’s church, then the next month the date fell on Mother’s Day and no one wanted to miss out on spending that special time with their mothers. June’s date fell on Mike’s sister’s wedding day. So July it would be. Better late than never, right?
To catch up a bit, two weeks ago I was telling you how Molly was crawling like an old pro, right? So get a load of this! A few days after that she started trying to pull herself up on things which is indeed the natural progression of things however, I’m just surprised at the speed of her progression. So fast forward to now a mere 2 weeks after she just started crawling and I officially have a “cruiser.” She’s wobbly but she easily pulls herself to standing and is walking along all the furniture in our home. If memory serves, Maddy didn’t reach this milestone until about 10 months old. I’m going to have to go dig out the baby book and check on that. Molly is only 8 1/2 months old! This feels early to me. Is this early? Oh!! And Molly said “Da-da” on Wednesday! She’s been saying “Mama” for about a month now and poor Mike has been waiting for her to get her “D” sound down. She came through for him.
In other news, my poor husband is injured and out of work for at least the next 8 weeks. The short story is that he had been having persistent back pain that wouldn’t go away. When he went to see the doctor, turns out he has a fracture of one of his vertebrae in his lower back! So he’s having to take it easy which is difficult for a guy like him. He’s always on the move. He has to wear this back brace all the time too. I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable (and hot!) that must be for him. We’re praying that he will recover quickly with a combination of rest, physical therapy and possibly steroid shots. The last resort if it doesn’t heal on its own will be surgery but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.

Taste The Rainbow Ice Cream from The Messy Baker Blog – Get this! Skittles ice cream!! How genius is that? I love this simple recipe that captures that fruity candy flavor. I need to make this. Not to mention, Jennie’s blog is just adorable and full of creative recipes that I can’t get enough of.
Bourbon Marshmallow Bacon S’mores from How Sweet It Is – So Jess had me at “bourbon marshmallow.” I also love anything in the “s’more” family but then she took these grown up s’mores and added bacon!! Bacon! Right there, this became my perfect dessert. I can just imagine the sticky, marshmallowy, chocolatey goodness with the saltiness of the crispy bacon. I think this would be heaven. Oh and not to mention that this blog is absolutely awesome! Jess has unique recipes like a cheesy dip that tastes like white pizza and a no-bake cheesecake made with goat cheese which you all know by now sounds like something I would just gobble right up! You should too.
Biscoff & Kahlua Crunch Cupcakes – The name alone made me want to dive in but that’s not what struck me first. This is a new-to-me blog and the author, Naomi takes some of the most breath-taking photographs that I have ever seen. I adore each post for her ability to draw me in with her photos. These chocolate Kahlua cupcakes with a Biscoff frosting, a chocolate drizzle and Heath bars were the first things I visited on her blog but I assure you, they won’t be the last. I found so many gorgeous recipes that will need to be made in my kitchen as well.
