The Weekend Whisk – 8/18/12

Happy Saturday! How was your week? What’s everyone been up to? Do you have any big plans for the weekend? Mine will consist of working (boo!!) and a little relaxation too (yea!!) This week was pretty uneventful for me aside from one major change … Drumroll please! I chopped all my hair off. I do this now and then. I’m no good at having long hair. Once it reaches a certain length it tends to stop growing, look raggedy and just generally aggravates me, especially when I have a 9 month old baby tugging at it incessantly. So I decided a change was in order but oh no, I couldn’t just trim it a bit. I wanted a complete overhaul. Boy oh boy, that’s what my head got.

I am still not completely sure how I feel about this change. I’m not really loving it just yet. It’s not what I was going for and doesn’t look like the picture I brought my stylist. That may be why I’m not in love with it. I supposed with any big change, it will take time. It’s been 5 days now. I don’t miss my long, straggly hair but I do wish I had just a bit more than I have right now. Hope I start to come to terms with this decision soon. Maybe next week? On the other hand, I’ve had an overwhelmingly positive response from all who have seen it. So that’s a plus, right?

This week I continued with my running endeavors. I’m feeling discouraged lately. I thought I would be further along than I am. I thought that I would have built more endurance by now than I feel I feel I have. Maybe I’m doing better than I think and it’s all in my head but for now, I feel like I need a big boost. But I’ll continue on in preparation for my 5K in September and chalk it up to a bad week.

Anyway, enough of all that. Here’s what you may have missed around here this week!

I think your hair looks darling but hoping I don’t do the same. I’ve spent over 2 years growing out a short do like that to bob length and the summer heat almost saw it chopped off. My issue is my hair is too thick…so long means heavy and HOT and I’m dangerous with scissors; I get the urge and there is no appointment made; nope…I start cutting. Glad you didn’t go that route, it’s not always a good thing!

I wish I had that issue of too thick! My hair is as thin as can be which leads to it looking scraggly as it gets long. And you are a brave soul, taking matters into your own hands. I’ve never done that. Thank you so much for the compliment on my hair. 🙂

omg, your hair looks great! I had my hair that short in high school, but since, it has always been long, almost to my rear…. I am due for a hair cut tomorrow, was thinking of short too! maybe not yet, but I will work it! Don’t get too discouraged with running, at least you can run. I have to modify mine for health issues, so not to worry Kate! You can do it!

Thank you SO much Christine! I really appreciate that! My hair will never grow as long as yours. For some reason, It gets just past my shoulder and then just stops. Strangest thing. So did you cut yours at your appointment?? I’m so curious 😉 And thank you for the running support. I don’t know that I’m cut out for running. I’m still trying though!

WOW, way to be brave with your hair!! I love short cuts and am slowly working my way up to something drastic, having finally accepted that I will never have long luscious hair in this life 🙂 Thanks for linking to my waffles – you would love them 🙂

Your hair looks great. I’m like you, and although my hair hasn’t been long for many years, I went extremely short this summer. I still don’t like it some days, and I love it other days (darned humidity). But I’m not sorry I tried it — it’s only hair and it’ll grow out again.

But you — YOU look wonderful!

Wow!! Thank you so much Sandy! I couldn’t agree with you more, my opinion of it changes from day to day. I do like the low maintenance though 😉 And you’re so right… it will grow back!
