Well, we made it through yet another week. Whoo hoo! Happy Saturday! What’s the plan for the weekend? HB and I have a fantastic girls day planned today! I’ve been looking forward to it for over a month now. We’ll be hopping a train and headed into NYC today with my friends Wendy and Lisa to go see Wicked!! SO excited! Hania and I have seen Wicked together once before about 6 years ago but we jumped at the opportunity to see it again. Of all the shows we’ve seen, Wicked is by far our favorite. The performance is absolutely amazing! Each song is better than the next. It’s funny, witty, heart-warming and surprising too. I highly recommend it.

Serious Sangria!

Serious Sangria!

Last weekend, I was telling you Mike and I were off to Atlantic City for the start of Restaurant Week. We ate at Carmine’s. The food was fantastic! They have sangria in glasses that they call a “personal punch bowl.” Love it! Festive and accurate since the glasses are definitely a hefty dose of red wine fruity goodness. Afterward we hit The Tropicana where our luck was not so good. That was short-lived. The rest of the afternoon we walked on the boardwalk, visited a few shops and other casinos. It was a wonderful, relaxing afternoon with great friends.

This weekend we’ll also be celebrating my brother, Matt’s birthday along with a belated celebration for my dad as well. Last Saturday morning, the party for my father got cancelled because he was sick. What a way to spend you birthday. Poor guy! So this weekend we’ll be celebrating both of them. Whoo hoo! I’ll finally get that German Chocolate Cake I love so much… um, I mean… they can finally have their birthday cakes.

I’m hoping Molly will get to fully enjoy the party. The poor girl has been cutting two of her cuspid (canine) teeth. You know, the sharp pointy ones? Oh, they are giving her a time. She hasn’t been sleeping well and sometimes waking up very early, unable to get back to sleep. The other day she went down for her nap only to wake up about 10 minutes later despite having Tylenol before she went down. The pitiful girl was just crying and I’d tried everything to soothe her. After a good cry, I was just sitting on the floor holding her, hugging her and the poor thing fell asleep in my arms utterly exhausted. I think of all the teeth, these are the most difficult for babies. I hope these teeth come in soon and we’re done with this.

Thank goodness for yogurt, it was just about the only thing Molly would eat this week. I suppose cool and soft was what her little gums were craving.

On the good days this week, the girls and I tried to channel the warmer months. We’re hoping by buying cute bathing suits then perhaps winter will be on its way. And really, who can resist $12 swimsuits?!? Not Maddy!

Oh and then the girls were helicopter pilots for a bit. There’s so much fun to be had at the mall!

Well, I hope you all had a fantastic week and have an even better weekend. As always, here’s what you may have missed on Food Babbles this week and boy was it a busy week around here! You may have a bit to catch up on. Happy Saturday!

Basil Balsamic Strawberries & Whipped Feta Grilled Cheese from Cupcakes & Kale Chips: This is the ultimate grilled cheese! Seriously. I have a love affair with balsamic and strawberries but then Brianne just took them to a whole new level by whipping up (literally) feta cheese for the ultimate grown-up grilled cheese.

Homemade Vanilla Pound Cake with Seared Pineapple and Honey Sauce from Spiced: I also happen to have a serious love affair with bundt cakes. This simple vanilla bundt is elevated to exquisite with the addition of seared fresh pineapple slice and then a  drizzle of pineapple honey sauce. I need this in my life.

Candied Kumquat & Cream Cheese Tart from Adventures in Cooking: This is one of those recipes that you truly need to go feast your eyes on. Anything I write about it won’t do it justice. This tart has a buttery, crumbly crust filled with a sweetened cream cheese filling and is topped with gorgeous candied kumquats. Oh, please go look at the pictures! They’re drop dead gorgeous. The photography on this site is breathtaking.

You’re very welcome, David! I loved that vanilla pound cake and that seared pineapple looks like the perfect companion for that lovely cake.

What can I say? The snow is really coming down and we expect a foot or more. Do we even live in the same country? 🙂

Have great fun…I am seriously jealous!

We had a great time! It was a fantastic day. And you’re not kidding… I definitely feel like sometimes we even live in the same country 🙂 I don’t know that I could handle Denver weather.

I LOVE WIcked! I saw it with Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel – amazing!! Thanks for sharing my grilled cheese! It’s quirky, but I hope you love it!

LOOOOVED that grilled cheese! Happy to share it. And Hania and I actually saw Wicked once before when it was Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel also. Loved it! It’s our favorite show so we jumped at the opportunity to see it again. It was just as good the second time around 🙂
