The Weekend Whisk – 3/16/13

Hope you all had a great week. Wicked was absolutely amazing last weekend!! HB and I had seen it once before but it was still just and quirky, breathtaking and touching as the first time around. Phew! This was a busy week around here! It was also a busy one for me personally as well. Boring stuff that I won’t well… bore you with. In other news cuteness abounded this week courtesy of the ever fashionable Miss Molly. Just thought the hat was too cute not to share. Oh, and then she decided to style her hair. With sherbet. Lovely!

On another note, I STILL haven’t started the kitchen project. I’ve had this vision in my head for over a month now and it’s not even begun yet which is incredibly frustrating. Mike has decided that we need to redo the ceiling in the kitchen first before I get started on everything else. We need someone to give Mike a hand with that soooo… Now, I wait. Since we’re working on someone else’s schedule and not mine I’m more than a little impatient. As of now, it looks like maybe I’ll get to start the second week of April. Ugh! That feels like FOREVER!

Oh!! I just started reading the funniest book that is written by some fabulous bloggers and is laugh so hard you’ll pee your pants funny! This is a compilation of short hilarious essays from mom bloggers that just tell it like it is. Any parent, but especially moms will be able to relate to the stories and mishaps in this book, I Just Want To Pee Alone. Heck, I can even relate to the title! In the last 3 1/2 years, I rarely ever get to go to the bathroom alone. When I do, it’s a small miracle and I relish in those precious few moments of privacy. I’m only about a third of the way through the book but I’ve laughed at every story so far.

I’m going to try making corned beef and cabbage for the very first time tomorrow! Excited for that and confused at how this has never been made in my kitchen before and it’s taken me this long to notice. Happy Saturday! Here’s what you may have missed this week on Food Babbles.

Babbles Bookmarks:

Cheesy Quinoa & Asparagus Bake from Hungry Couple: I am a big fan of quinoa and I love it’s versatility. This cheesy version with asparagus and a sprinkle of crispy panko breadcrumbs on top is on my list of things to make this week!

Healthy Gluten-Free Oat Waffles from Jules Food: These oat waffles sound heart and flavorful. Topped with ripe berries, they’re the perfect healthy breakfast! I know the girls and I are going to love them.

Cream Cheese Carrot Cake Muddy Buddies from Something Swanky: I looooove Muddy Buddies but peanut butter is a big no-no in our house because of Maddy’s allergy. This version is great because there’s no peanut butter and it’s a carrot cake version. I haven’t seen Muddy Buddies like these and I can’t wait to make them.

Oh my goodness, she is ADORABLE!!! I love her hair!! Sherbet?! LOL!

I can also relate on the bathroom thing. Yes, exactly 3 1/2 years since I’ve gone there by myself… I have a 9 month old, too…so I’m thinking it’s probably going to be 100 years before I get to go in there by myself. 🙂

Thank you Kate! And her hair gets styled with all sorts of food. And we truly won’t ever go to the bathroom alone again, will we? 😉
