Welcome to the second week of January! I feel like we were all just celebrating back to back to back holidays and then BOOM! we’re in mid-January. How did that happen? How many of you made resolutions? Are you still keeping up with them? This year I didn’t make any formal, set in stone resolution. I have a few loose goals for myself, mostly blog related actually. You may have noticed things were a little more quite around these parts lately. I needed to take a little “me time.” Food Babbles was kinda taking over my world and stressing me out. So these last two weeks I took a bit of a breather. Next week, I’ll be making it up to you though. I have lots of goodies in store for you.

Rockefeller Center - FoodBabbles.comBut I’ve come to realize that sometimes, I just need a break and I hope that’s okay with you guys. During my free-time (I’d actually forgotten what that was like!!) we spent some quality family time doing some day trips. We spent time in Manhattan seeing the tree at Rockefeller Center, a little late but better than never.

Gazillion Bubbles Show - FoodBabbles.comWe also got to see The Gazillion Bubble Show which was AMAZING and best described as absolutely magical. Oh how I wish they allowed photography inside the theater because Maddy got pulled up on stage for a portion of the performance and it was absolutely breathtaking. I would have loved to have snapped a picture of her on stage surrounded by a snowstorm of bubbles.

Snowy day - FoodBabbles.comSpeaking of snowstorms, we’ve had our fair share of snow and truly frigid temperatures here in New Jersey these last two weeks, as has the rest of the country. I honestly don’t ever remember seeing temperatures in the single digits. Needless to say, I’m ready for spring. Really ready. But while we wait, we’ll warm ourselves with hot chocolate and plenty of it.

Hot Chocolate - FoodBabbles.comThe girls have been getting a little stir crazy the last few days since it’s truly been dangerously cold outside. So we decided to bring the sidewalk inside so they could get some roller skating in. Hours of endless fun was had by all! Thankfully, the cold snap seems to have broken and it’s been a balmy 30 here since yesterday. Hoping to make it to the 40’s soon! Either way, I’m thankful that today it isn’t 3 degrees because HB and I will be headed back to the city for some one on one time in celebration of her 16th birthday!! How is THAT even possible? That my baby, my first-born is turning 16 in just a very few days. I’m not sure where the time went but she’s grown into a lovely young lady so in celebration we’ll spend the day shopping, lunching and then we’ll take in a show. Next we’re off to her birthday dinner! It’s sure to be a fun-filled day.

Keeping warm here in RI!!! Yup we’re freezing like you are. However today it is 50*. Too bad it is rainy though, I guess we New Englanders are never happy! I am so looking forward to a WARM Spring. Hopefully it will be! Great idea about the sidewalk inside! Looks like the girls had fun! Welp, stay warm and enjoy our short lived heat wave!!

It sounds like you and I are on the very same page Cheryl. Bring on the spring! Hope you enjoyed the relative warmth despite the rain and had a wonderful weekend.
