Grilling season is officially in full swing! Once the snow melts and the frigid temps are gone, I’m all about it. My grill rarely gets a break and this week it was treated to this awesome Strawberry Mozzarella Turkey Burger. I have a feeling this juicy turkey burger recipe will be in the regular rotation in our house.

Ground turkey is seasoned with minced garlic, red onions, salt and pepper. I keep this flavorful burger simple so that all those toppings are free to really shine. Right before this juicy burger comes off the grill, I top it with a thick slice of fresh mozzarella cheese that melts beautifully over the top.Strawberry Mozzarella Turkey Burger - FoodBabbles.comSure, that would be awesome enough because what’s not to love about a cheeseburger, right? But I wanted to take this burger in a distinctly summery direction. What comes next is amazing and may sound odd at first but stay with me. Just trust me. It’s gonna be delicious!

This juicy turkey burger is topped with melted mozzarella cheese then it’s topped with a fresh strawberry sauce that has just a touch of (you all know me pretty well by now, you know what’s coming before you even read it) balsamic. It’s like a summery ketchup substitute. A touch sweet but nothing crazy and oh so awesome with fresh mozzarella and turkey. Then a big pile of peppery arugula brings it all together. Creamy, sweet, savory, peppery crazy goodness.

Strawberry Mozzarella Turkey Burger - FoodBabbles.comThis amazing burger and all it’s outstanding topping are then all sandwiched between Pepperidge Farm® Farmhouse Hearty Buns. These are hearty, generously-sized buns that allow for all the fixin’s of a really great burger, without falling apart on you!  There’s nothing worse then trying to put together a truly amazing burger then your bun falls apart in your hands after the first two bites as toppings going sliding out onto the plate never to be reunited in burger bliss again. It’s a sad moment. Don’t let this happen to your burger ever again.

Pepperidge Farm® Farmhouse Hearty Buns definitely make for a bigger, bolder burger! This grilling season, I will be putting all my burgers on these Farmhouse Hearty Buns because I know they’ll be able to hold up to all all the toppings I plan on piling high on my burgers. Not to mention, they taste fantastic! With flavors like Rustic Potato, Hearty White and Stone Ground Wheat, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Rustic Potato is the family favorite around here!Strawberry Mozzarella Turkey Burger - FoodBabbles.comSo take advantage of these warm sunny days. Strawberry Mozzarella Turkey Burger

A hearty turkey burger topped with creamy fresh mozzarella, balsamic strawberry sauce and peppery arugula.

  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon good quality balsamic vinegar
  • 1 pound ground turkey (80% lean)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 2 cups arugula
  • 4 Pepperidge Farm® Farmhouse Hearty Buns

  1. In a small saucepan, heat strawberries and balsamic vinegar over medium heat until strawberries begin to break down and become tender, about 5 minutes. Use a potato masher to coarsely break the strawberries up to form a chunky mixture. Simmer about 5 minutes longer until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  2. Heat grill to medium-high heat.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together ground turkey, onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Form the meat mixture into 4 patties.
  4. Grill turkey burgers until no longer pink, approximately 5 minutes per side. During the last minute of cooking, top each burger with mozzarella slice and allow to melt.
  5. Remove from grill. Place burger on Pepperidge Farm® Farmhouse Hearty Buns and top with some of the strawberry mixture and a handful of arugula.
