Ball Park Park's Finest LogoSummertime, the season for grilling! I don’t know about you, but our grill gets a real workout during these warm summer days. I love cooking outside and even more, I love eating outside. There are few things better than being in the fresh air, gathered around a table with my family and friends enjoying a freshly prepared summer meal.

I remember growing up, my father was always behind the grill. A cold beer in one hand, a long metal spatula or tongs in the other. The savory smoke rising from the grill as we (not so) patiently waited for what was cooking over there. My brother and I were always the first to ask for a juicy hot dog. We then hurriedly took our plates to the table where we would pile our respective hot dogs with any number of toppings, scoop into side dishes and pour cold drinks.

Back in those days, out hot dogs were simply topped with ketchup and maybe a bit of relish. Nothing too fancy. If you recall my post highlighting Ball Park Park’s Finest Hot Dogs Three Ways, then you know my palate has changed a bit and I prefer toppings that are a bit more interesting. I enjoy Ball Park Park’s Finest Hot Dogs because they contain no artificial preservatives, no artificial flavors, no colors or fillers, have no nitrates or nitrites added and are made with 100% beef.

Grilling: Sides & SipsBall Park Park’s Finest Hot Dogs definitely take a barbecue from bland to bold, elevating any grilling experience. The Slow Cooked Chili and Jalapeño Cheddar have quickly become my personal favorites. Topping off these flavorful hot dogs with any number of toppings like my teriyaki pineapple version or Frito pie inspired dog last month is a great starting spot but no meal is complete without a pairing of sides and sips, right? I love baked beans, sauerkraut and grilling up hearty slices of zucchini and squash. But what if we take it even further?

What if we slide those juicy hot dogs into a warm, Homemade Pretzel Bun? Top that baby with sauerkraut and mustard! That would be pure perfection. An ice cold drink on a hot summer day while biting into a juicy Ball Park Park’s Finest Hot Dog is an absolute must! My drink of choice? Lavender Iced Tea is the perfect pairing. The gentle floral notes are sure to quench your thirst in between bites. Or perhaps something a little more grown up like a Bourbon Lemonade Cocktail? Those never last long.

A hearty potato salad is a classic side dish. My Rainbow Roasted Potato Salad isn’t your average potato salad. Filled with vibrant veggies like tomatoes, charred corn, green beans summer squash and fresh thyme, this is a flavorful potato salad that will have you family coming back for more.Rainbow Roasted Potato Salad 4 - #potato #salad #vegetarian

Last month I was telling you all about how in New York City, Ball Park® and a team of grill masters were going to attempt to break the world record for the longest running group BBQ at the Finest Grillathon using Ball Park Park’s Finest Hot Dogs. Man oh man, that’s my kind of record breaking! Do you know who has previously held that record? CLICK HERE to find out who!

The good news is … We took back that title at The Finest Grillathon. On August 13th, Ball Park brand, set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Team Barbecue Marathon after grilling for 34 hours and 35 minutes in New York City! That’s pretty darn impressive, right??  Finest Grillathon winners, Andrew Battistelli and Susan Bulloch, along with Food Network chef Tyler Florence, grilled more than 3,000 Ball Park Park’s Finest Hot Dogs which were donated to City Harvest, a food rescue organization. Absolutely amazing! So next time you’re slaving over a hot grill for an hour on a 90 degree day, just think about those Finest Grillathon winners and their 34 hour 35 minute cook off! You can check out all the highlights from the Finest Grillathon HERE!
