When it comes to sandwiches, for me it’s all about the bread. You can have the most incredible sandwich, loaded with prime cuts of meat, toppings and spreads but if that creation is on lousy bread it just ruins the whole darn thing. I love a crusty hard roll for carrying the deliciousness of a sandwich but in my book, Caraway Rye Bread is king. I love that rye flavor and how the tender, soft bread is dotted with caraway seeds.

Turns out rye bread is a breeze to make which is wonderful news if you don’t happen to have good rye bread available to you at your local bakery. I love rye bread, just checked out the recipe it does sound super easy. With weather cooling down a bit I am starting to get the urge to make bread. Going to try this loaf. Thanks for posting,

Love, love, love rye bread. In my hometown there was a great Jewish deli with the best rye bread, and I definitely miss it (and the huge piles of pastrami). Now I can make it in my own kitchen!

I love great rye and sometimes it can be so difficult to find a good loaf! Making my own definitely solves that problem.

a mighty fine lookin’ sandwich there Kate! I agree, the bread is what makes the sandwich. One can have just PB and J and it would taste a lot better if the bread was right!

Rye bread is my favorite, too, and I also agree that the bread makes or breaks your sandwich. Can’t wait to try this recipe.

Your bread looks perfect. I’ve always been a tiny bit scared of yeasted baking but that gorgeously soft rye crumb is tempting me to give it another go. Caraway seeds are awesome xx
