It’s been a week folks. A week of adjustments, sleepless nights, challenges, joy, love and cuddles. It sounds (and feels) a little like when I had Maddy & Molly but no, there’s not a newborn in our house. There’s a 15-week-old and her name is Lucy. Those of you who follow me on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter were already privy to that information. You had the inside scoop.
Today marks one week with this little girl and I’m happy to report that she’s a doll. I was excited and nervous about her arrival, not being sure how Lucy would respond to the girls. I was nervous about how Lucy might react to Murphy, although I knew he would love her because he loves other dogs. I worried that he may be too crazy or rough with her. Shortly after Lucy’s arrival, all my fears were quelled. Murphy was ever so gently with this little girl. He cautiously introduced himself and gave her time to warm up to him. A day later they were sharing toys and playing together. Murphy has had moments when he forgets how big he is and gets a little too rough but she’s sure to let him know and say “Hey, watch it bud!”
Maddy and Molly love her to pieces already and the three of get along so nicely. Sadly, I don’t think little Lucy will find her forever home with us. Maddy has an allergy to dogs that in the past has been very mild and seemed to be caused only by contact with dog saliva. Since Lucy’s arrival, Maddy’s allergies have been in full effect and she’s been just miserable for nearly a week. No amount of Benadryl is helping that little girl so regretfully, we’ve decided to foster Lucy until she can be place in a home that’s the perfect fit just for her. It breaks my heart because she’s such a wonderful dog.
