Today is cause for celebration! Today I, along with several other bloggers are celebrating our friend, Barb and the anniversary of The Friday Cocktail. One year ago Barb started serving up lovely libations that have definitely impressed. Thanks to The Friday Cocktail, I learned how to make homemade Limoncello and Barb used it in one of my favorite of her creations, a Limoncello and Prosecco Cooler with Raspberry Ice Cubes. You need to see that! Gorgeous and refreshing! This Watermelon Martini also really “wowed” me. Each and every drink that has crossed my screen has truly been something to talk about.
I’ve spent the better part of the last 4 years unable to consume alcohol due to popping out babies but when I go out, I still want to have something that looks festive minus the alcohol. I’ve spent a lot of time drinking seltzer with a splash of cranberry and a twist of lime. It looks like I’m drinking something pink, bubbly and fun. My other “go to” drink when abstaining from alcohol has been a good old fashion Shirley Temple. I’ve always associated it as a drink for children but they’re just so tasty that I can’t help myself!
These days I’m able to have an adult beverage now and then. When Barb asked me to join her in celebrating the anniversary of The Friday Cocktail I decided I would take my favorite virgin drink and spike it. That’s right! The Shirley Temple is all grown up. Lemon-lime soda mixed with cherry vodka, a splash of grenadine and my favorite part, garnished with cherries. I love maraschino cherries! Perhaps that’s why I adore a Shirley Temple so.
Now, let’s take a gander at what Barb is doing over on her site for the celebration, shall we? There you will find many other drinks to whet your whistle and Barb has some giveaways to mark the event as well! That’s right… FREE STUFF! So CLICK HERE and go see more cocktails, Barb’s celebratory creation and get yourself some swag while you’re at it.
Enjoy!

I loved Shirley Temples as a kid! As an adult I just know I would love your version! Looks wonderful
Thank you Jayne! They’re truly one of my favorite drinks.
I love Shirley Temples! Who cares if they’re for the kiddos; they taste delicious, and you’ve made even better by adding cherry vodka. You’re a genius. Can’t wait to try it. Yum!
Not me! I don’t care!! Shirley Temples rock
Hope you like it! I liked them WAY too much… they’re dangerous cause they do not taste like they have alcohol in them
I love cocktails. My bar is well stocked, but lately I didn’t have the chance to do anything. Drinking alone is too risky.
My parents used to always order a Shirley Temple for me and my sister when out to eat so we’d feel grown-up if they hd a cocktail too! I love that you boozed up the good ship lollipop!! It looks great – so pretty in pink!
Thanks Lisa!
Oooo, I like the cherry vodka! I’ve made them before with plain vodka, but the cherry vodka would be the icing on the cake here. Nice!
The cherry vodka definitely upped the cherry quotient
Thanks Carrie!
I remember having Shirley Temple’s as a girl (and, well, I actually remember THE Shirley Temple even) and I’ve made them for my kids and their friends when they were little. So…they have not surfaced here for awhile but you’ve now made an excuse for all of us to celebrate…childhood memories and booze…whoo hoo!
Thanks so much for joining the celebration Kate and Cheers!
Thanks for having me Barb! Loved seeing everyone’s incredible creations.
Shirley Temple is my favorite, what a fun spin on a childhood favorite! I have never had cherry flavor vodka, but must find some now! Cheers:-) Hugs, Terra
Yes! The cherry vodka made this drink so fun and a little dangerous
It definitely doesn’t taste like there’s alcohol in there.
Mmmm I do love sweet fruity girlie cocktails….really the only kind I do drink. This sounds perfect and very celebratory, too! Love it! And Barb’s anniversary has turned out to be one spectacular party!
Barb’s anniversary really did turn into such a big celebration! I loved all the drinks everyone made. I’m still trying to find time to check them all out.
Try it with red stag which is him beams cherry borboun
That sounds amazing! I MUST give that a try! Thanks for the suggestion.
